My paintings and mixed media pieces explore themes such as self-discovery and female identity. The style and experimentation differ upon on the medium. My work is eclectic in nature, which is reflected upon the subject matter and expression. As an artist, I am largely inspired by Neo-Surrealist and Neo-Conceptualist art practices. Many of my pieces encompass bold design, vibrant colors and various textiles.
I am a Virginia and Washington DC native. Even though I was born in Germany and grew up as an army brat, I have spent the majority of my life within the Washington DC area.
It wasn’t until college that I began taking art classes, which resulted in graduating with a Studio Art minor. My basic art education has allowed me to independently expand upon that knowledge and grow as an artist.
After graduating from James Madison University, I worked full-time as a web developer and graphic designer in DC, while still engaging in art on the side. However art as a hobby wasn’t fulfilling enough, so I began a career as a full-time artist and painting instructor.
Now I am a newly licensed art educator and have obtained my Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) from George Mason University. Along with obtaining an education within the arts, my work has been featured in art publications and displayed throughout the DC area. I have displayed my work in galleries, local businesses, universities and underground art shows.
