My paintings and mixed media pieces explore themes such as self-discovery and female identity, as well as contortions of the psyche. The style and experimentation differ upon on the medium. My work is eclectic in nature, which is reflected upon the subject matter and expression. As an artist she is largely inspired by Neo-Surrealism and Neo-Conceptualism. Many of my pieces encompass bold design, vibrant colors and various textiles.
I am a Virginia and Washington DC native. Even though I was born in Germany and grew up as an army brat, I have spent the majority of my life within the Washington DC area.
It wasn’t until college that I began taking art classes, which resulted in graduating with a Studio Art minor. My basic education in art has allowed me to expand upon that knowledge and grow as an artist. I am self taught within various forms of media.
After graduating from JMU I worked full-time as a web developer and graphic designer in DC, while still engaging in art on the side. However art as a hobby wasn’t fulfilling enough so I began a career as both a full-time artist and an art instructor.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) at George Mason University. Along with obtaining an education within the arts, my work has been featured in art publications and displayed throughout the DC area. The showcases I have participated in include galleries, local businesses, universities and underground art shows.
